Bellway Homes creates total meeting flexibility with video-enabled workspaces

Audio Visual Case Study: Bellway Homes
We are proud to be able to provide such high-quality meeting spaces to employees across our organisation. Pure AV has been an excellent project partner; the solution they provided is adaptable, which was critical given the variety of meeting spaces we have, while also being simple and welcoming to non-technical users.

- Aaron Carrier, Head of Infrastructure, Bellway Homes

Bellway Homes, a national housebuilder, has modernised its workspaces to make meetings more efficient and flexible for both employees and visitors. The FTSE 250 company, which has 22 regional divisions across the UK, has collaborated with integrator Pure Audio Visual on a rolling upgrade of meeting facilities throughout the organisation.

The priority for Bellway was to create flexible, BYOD environments that are simple to use and consistent across all spaces and locations. Video conferencing solutions were desired to support the steady growth in hybrid working and the need for effective communication between the divisions and with clients.

Investment was not limited to meeting spaces but also extended into reception, communal and staff recreation areas, where digital signage screens are deployed to display live TV and internal communications.

The Solution

Within the reception, lobby and staff recreation areas, large format displays deliver company information and updates. Each screen receives content over the network, displaying Freeview TV, corporate communications and welcome messages.

The meeting rooms, which range in size from small huddle spaces to boardrooms and large conference rooms, are all designed to provide a consistent user experience.

Extron push button-control panels enable ‘one-touch’ system startup, activating the main display and audio devices and presenting the ClickShare Conference home screen, ready for connection.

The Barco ClickShare Conference enables Bellway employees or visitors to wirelessly connect their devices (laptop, tablets, phones) to the room environment. This gives them full access to the large format display, room camera, microphones and speakers as well as the freedom to run the meeting on any software platform they choose.

The screens, cameras, and audio devices are all carefully chosen to provide the same quality of experience in different room settings.

To create flexible BYOD meeting experiences in smaller spaces, a Logitech Rally Bar is paired with the ClickShare Conference and Sony displays.

In the larger boardrooms and meeting spaces, the Rally Bar is replaced by a Logitech Rally camera and Biamp speakers to provide full room coverage.

Preset PTZ positioning on the Logitech Rally automatically optimises the room view, providing simple, single-button operation to create the best visual representation of the meeting, whether in use by 1 or 10 delegates.

In the training room at the Newcastle-based headquarters, dual screens offer a flexible teaching space while a gooseneck microphone positioned on a lectern provides additional voice reinforcement distributed through discreet ceiling-mounted speakers.

The inclusion of a Huddly camera, Biamp parle mic, and Tesira DSP allows for an enhanced remote and hybrid training experience. A Barco ClickShare CX20 maintains the same laptop-driven user experience found in the other meeting spaces.

The Benefits

Because the meeting room experience is consistent, employees can walk in and use any space within the company’s estate with confidence, allowing technology to take a back seat while they concentrate on the purpose of the meeting.

The ability to use a variety of different UC platforms, such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, seamlessly ensures that employees have the freedom to work with the systems they prefer without compromising meeting quality.

By choosing a system that supports BYOM (Bring Your Own Meeting), staff utilise their own devices, with full access to pre-prepared content and preferred software applications.

The simple connectivity offered by the ClickShare conference solution ensures sessions start quickly and that attendees both remote and in-room benefit from the installed audio and display equipment.

Staff who use the Barco ClickShare Conference have praised its simplicity and use it daily alongside UC platforms for group meetings, training, interviews and one-to-one sessions involving both in-room and remote participants.

From a workspace management perspective, there is a low maintenance requirement, which is backed up by generous warranties and Pure AV support services.

The technology is adaptable and compact, allowing for a smooth and discreet installation into existing workspaces.
