Pure AV helped Edge Hill deliver an outstanding facility for teaching, research and industry collaboration
Steve IgoeDeputy Vice Chancellor, Edge Hill University
Edge Hill University’s award-winning campus located in the heart of the North West is an outstanding study environment combining modern well equipped buildings with cutting edge, industry standard facilities.
Engaged to deliver an extensive suite of audio visual services, Pure AV needed to provide an innovative, high quality solution with intuitive control in keeping with the creative ethos of the centre.
"In an environment where innovative teaching is fundamental, we wanted technology solutions that were reliable, easy to use and that inspired student imagination.” Mark Allinson, Director of Information Technology Services at Edge Hill.
The project itself involved a high-specification lecture theatre with digital cinema facility, 27 seminar rooms, IT suites and creative ‘break-out’ spaces, digital signage and the installation of a video wall in the impressive three-storey atrium area.
The solution provided by Pure AV included a complete package of design, programming, installation, commissioning, training and support. Recognized as the Most Innovative Education Facility at the 2014 European InAVate awards, Pure AV has helped Edge Hill to deliver an outstanding facility for teaching, research and industry collaboration.
“Everyone who walks into the building gets the wow factor, but soon they get to realise it is wow factor with a purpose - to allow media and computing students to really push their ideas and showcase their activities.” Donald Moffatt, media technology development manager, Edge Hill.
“The creative possibilities of the ‘random’ video wall in the central atrium have really excited university students and staff, providing countless opportunities for exhibiting student’s work on a flexible electronic canvas.” Mark Allinson, director of IT services, Edge Hill
Tendered through the NWUPC the project specifications were well considered and clearly outlined with reference to InfoComm standards. Working in partnership with the University post award Pure AV was able to apply project engineering skills to enhance the specification, resulting in the addition of IPTV and a unique ‘abstract’ feature video wall design.
