Crow Wood Hotel and Spa

Crow Wood Hotel Audio Visual Case Study
The team at Pure AV understood our aspirations for the Crow Wood complex and have delivered an audiovisual system to perfectly reflect our vision and exceed the expectations of our clients. It has been a pleasure to work with the Pure AV organisation on the delivery of this project.

- Oliver Brown, Director, Crow Wood Leisure Ltd

The luxurious Crow Wood Hotel, set in 40 acres of private parkland in Burnley, Lancashire, is the latest addition to the Crow Wood resort. The 76-bedroom hotel boasts wedding, conference and corporate facilities to complement the resort’s award-winning Woodland Spa and restaurants.

Engaged in providing AV services for the new venue, Pure AV created an audio visual system to deliver bedroom TV, meeting room facilities and distributed audio throughout the ground floor of the building.

Making the most of the available budget to provide a simple to manage solution, in keeping with the stylish, elegance of the hotel setting was a top priority.

The Solution

The installed audio system enables guests to enjoy background music throughout the different areas of the hotel. Divided into six zones, and delivered using AV over IP, the hotel can select the most appropriate content for each zone to play directly from the hotel’s media server.

Within the lounge bar, pre-function bar, indoor and outdoor restaurant areas, Audac wall panels offer a line input to enable the playback of music from external devices, along with a microphone connection to support voice reinforcement for localised announcements and events.

The impressive conference suite accommodates up to 400 guests and can be divided into three separate spaces to cater for smaller groups. Martin Audio ceiling speakers provide discreet and full sound coverage, linked back to an Audac amplifier and Extron DSP. Audio can be pulled over the network from the music server, or taken from a local source such as an iPad or iPhone connected via the in-room wall plate. Alternatively, guests can use the Nuvo P30 touch panel on the wall of the conference suite to access playlists from either the hotel’s or their personal Spotify account.

The design of the audio system is cost-effective and straightforward. The touch screen offers easy, logical control able to be managed without the need for intervention by hotel staff. For events or occasions, when management by hotel staff is preferred, a second touch screen positioned behind the bar enables this to happen.

There is no fixed visual display equipment within the conference suite. However, network points within the room (and all bar and restaurant areas), enable a large screen display to be brought in and connected directly to the hotel TV network. A functionality that is enjoyed by visiting Premier League football teams who are often hosted at Crow Wood when taking on local team Burnley FC.

The IPTV system distributes hotel TV to all 76 bedrooms. Teleste Luminato, combined with Philips CMND platform, delivers Freeview and Sky channels to each room over a single network cable. The large screen Philips hospitality TV in each room providing a vibrant, responsive image for guests to enjoy.

Integration of the hotel’s preferred operations software, Guestline, with the Philips CMND server ensures a seamless guest experience, and easy management of guest communications as staff continue to work with a software package with which they are comfortable.

Pure AV are also able to offer rapid support and remote diagnostics using the Philips CMND platform. Logging into the system enables Pure to monitor the status of the screens, manage firmware updates, carry out fault finding and where possible apply a remote fix.

The corporate facilities at the hotel include three mid-sized meeting rooms. Each has a large screen Philips display, wall-mounted and connected to the hotel network. Room users can access the hotel TV channels or use a local input plate to connect and display content from laptops or other local devices.

A Samsung Flip within each of the meeting spaces replaces the traditional pen and paper whiteboard, offering a simple solution for interactive working and helping the hotel to add value to the proposition for those hiring the meeting spaces.

The Benefits

The Crow Wood hotel is a stunning venue in a beautiful setting. The distributed audio system helps to create a welcoming environment for those visiting the hotel and offers the flexibility to differentiate the audio to meet the needs of the different areas within the hotel.

Guests benefit from a vibrant, responsive in-room TV service with a good selection of viewing options. At the same time, the hotel has a reliable system that is easy to manage and supported by remote diagnostic capabilities.

The meeting and conference venues offer high-quality services that require minimal intervention by hotel staff and the potential to accommodate hired-in equipment for more demanding productions and events.
